Can I write off my Laptop?

I wanna buy this laptop and I am on call once every 5 weeks for an entire week... I figure I can write off a 5th of the cost of the laptop as a work expense..

anyone know anything about that stuff..

If you use it for work, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to write it off, or at least part of it off. Good luck!

Check with your accountant but as a business expense it can be a partial deduction. I've never gotten a full deduction on something like that.

Even the IRS knows donkey about tax laws. I just file my W2 and don't write off a thing... I can't figure the damn thing out, how worth it is it anyway?

You can write off the portion you use for work. You could probably try and say you use it a little more than you really do, but that's up to you.

I am no tax expert, but I worked in a Tax Office for 3 years. You can write off almost anything thats a business expense that your employer doesn't cover. You can write off the miles on your car for the drive to and from work even.
