Bump.
But while I'm at it, I'm going to rant. I seem to have the worst luck with pitchers in this league (or so it feels). In the early years, I had plenty of offense, but it was my pitching that I struggled to perform well in. It was the very reason I traded AROD for Santana years ago. Or when I traded Kinsler for Papelbon also years ago. Or why I kept Yovanni Gallardo over Matt Kemp years ago. Or why I traded Billy Butler for Ryan Dempster. Sensing the theme?
The ace(s) of my staffs have essentially been the likes of Aaron Harang and Yovanni Gallardo. Gallardo granted is not a bad pitcher, but he suffers from a good deal of inconsistency (or so it felt) and he's not really a fantasy roster "ace." Even Santana went south after I traded for him (not an awful pitcher, but not the Santana we all once knew as an ace).
I can think of a handful of offensive players that I let go or traded where I think, "Ooo. I should have kept him." (I'm sure we can all relate to that). But I can't honestly think of any pitcher where I have that same feeling. Looking back at my rosters, I once owned Bumgarner, but that was quite a long time ago (before he was the pitcher he is today). Besides that, I just don't have any "Oooo" feelings when it comes to pitching. Especially starting pitching. And that's a really sad feeling to have.
End of rant. Rooting for Cliff Lee. Or Jake Peavy. Or Kris Medlin. Or anyone that will become a permanent fixture/ace of my staff!!!
