Sammy Sosa, Mike Piazza, Frank Thomas, and the DH

Thomas and Piazza are on the point of signing with an AL team for DH duties. Sosa, however, gets this:

Rotoworld:
Sammy Sosa and his agent will meet with Nationals GM Jim Bowden tonight, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
The report says no deal is imminent. The Nationals are believed to have offered Sosa a minor league deal, but they don't want to guarantee him any money.

A minor league deal?! This guy has fallen very far, but in comparison to the others, why would an AL team not choose him as a DH? Just curious to thoughts..

If Thomas can be healthy he is BY FAR! the best...however, he injuries himself with practically ever swing...I'd take a flier though...he hits massive bombs
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

Thomas has spent more days on the DL over the last 5 seasons then anyone other then P. Reese. Yup more then Griffey, more then Nomar. However when healthy he is the best of those three.

if i were to rank them it would be

piazza
thomas

the other guy

this would change if frank hadn't been so injury prone over the past couple years. he showed last year he can still hit the ball hard so he can put in some solid work if healthy but that's one BIG IF. (pun intended)

:-D

+1 to Frank. I will try to pick him up late just in case he's recovered enough to hit.

Frank Thomas would be the best option of those 3, and he looks to have signed with Oakland tonight.

Apparently Piazza has had some serious discussions with an AL team.

It could be the Jays.

It could be, though Blair doesn't think it is.

Thomas signing for this low can only be good for the team looking to sign Piazza, though. It looks like he could go very cheap.
