20 teams, mixed league with preseason eBay-style online auction. this is the league's 5th yr. we use cbs sportsline, which offers real-time updates, sortable stats and msgboard.
you pay your team's payroll and earn revenue based on your W-L record, so you can finish in the money even if you do not win the league. standings are calculated using runs created and runs allowed.
you can sign prospects to develop a deep farm system. its as close as you can get to being the GM of a baseball club.
there is a $14 admin fee that covers sportsline and webhosting for the auction. there is a $120 salary cap and each team's payroll goes into the pot, which is divided accorded to each team's W-L record. first place usually wins ~$200 and a bad team usually loses ~$30 for the season. so, if you have an overachieving team with a low payroll, you can finish in the money w/o winning the league.
the preseason auction works like eBay. basically, you bid on free agents and minor leaguers like you do on eBay, which is convenient because you dont have to be online the minute the auction closes. the auction closes in 4 staggered dates during a week in late march.
theres still room for 3 new owners. you dont have to take over a new team, you can start clean.
one owner had to quit, so there are now 2 spots open, either with a new team, or taking over the old team, which includes yusmeiro petit and joel guzman.
