I think they bought Wade Miller for parts. When Wood goes down, AGAIN, they can just swap the necessary parts into Wood's arm.
I bet Chad Fox wishes they had him last year...

The Tribune, who may have good sources of info on their 'new hire' said that 'shoulder problems may keep him out until mid-season' in this article for which you'd have to register:

I would be more excited if THEY were more excited. I guess another pitcher is ok but, if he turns out to be a 'fractional' pitcher, either throwing odd to protect damage or simply lurking around the DL and/or AAA I don't see it having much value. Still, maybe this IS next year?

you are likely never full strength after having labrum surgery.
boston was in the best position to evaluate him and they opted to non-tender him and try to bring him back for less. they were still interested, but had little confidence in his being ready to go in may.
does anyone know if wade will be free agent eligible after 2006 or does he still have one more year of arbitration?

honestly, this sounds like other Hendry injury reclamation projects like Dempster.
