Id love to see him up next year...I only have rights to Upton for 4 years (starting in 06)...the sooner he comes up, the better off my team will be.

Eh, not necessarily. It won't help you if they rush him and he hits .240 for the first 2 years of his career. Better to make sure he's fully developed, though I think he'll follow along the Delmon path.

Ive heard scouts say that Upton has the skills to possibly get a few MLB ABs as soon as August. Id say the best situation for ARI would be to keep Drew at SS and move Upton to CF where he has the speed and arm.

i heard the same thing that he will be in the minors for quite some time developing, hes extremely young and wont be around for 3-4 years on the big show.... go with Drew (who will be up this year) or Wood or someone else unless you have Uptons rights for 5+ years

this situation was brought up a long time ago right after upton was drafted but people like Peter Gammons stated he would be moved to the outfield.

the dbacks have so much young talent, they can afford to keep upton down there and bring up other prospects in september.

he wont play ML ball this year.

But things have changed a bit since then. The DBacks added Chris Young and also has Carlos Gonzales looking very promising for future OF. There's no need to make a quick decision about moving Upton to the OF at this point. Maybe they'll eventually move Drew to 2B and let Upton play SS, if he develops well there.
