Troy Percival, the Starter?

So, I guess from the responses...no one see's the beginnings of a John Smoltz II here...lol. Looked at his stats, he's barely pitched over 50 innings in a season.

He has 2 pitches and his best one keeps getting worse. He used to be able to throw it 98MPH, but now he's lucky to get it to 92.

I wonder if there is some dialog in his contract that stipulates that he has to try to pitch. Anytime I've heard him talk he always works into the conversation he feelings on how he has no idea if his arm can hold up. In fact he has even said that he feels if he tried to throw a heater that his arm would blow. I will be surpised if he contributes at all, I think his career is over. Except for that check cashing part.

Percival is not done.

He had 9 straight seasons with 45+ games finished until last season.

His h/9, k/9, and WHIP were all better last season than in 2004...a season in which he still finished as the 19th best fantasy closer. Not good, but certainly not too shabby.

Yes, he had arm surgery and yes he doesn't have the stuff he used to, but his numbers last season aren't as bad as everyone would like you to believe. It'll also be his last season, something I think will work in his favor, as he tries to go out with some sort of decent season.

I think a 3.50 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 5 saves is what he'll put up next season. Obviously, not good or even fantasy worthy, but he's not trash either.
