It's not always about speed when it comes to stealing bases. Bagwell stole 30+ in his prime and he is below avg in speed. Pujols last season is another good example.

I still don't know about the Guerrero comparison.

Based on what each did at age 20, I'd say the comparison is pretty good. Plus Vlad is pretty much a 15 SB player if you take out two years he had 30+ SBs.

It's just that when you get to the level of Delmon's talent, there are not too many you can compare him to so...

Delmon still needs work on his plate discipline but everything else screams superstar to me.

Here he is a list of guys who hit 20 or more hr at AA/AAA at age 20 or younger in the last 15 years.

Juan Gonzalez
Cliff Floyd
Paul Konerko
Derreck Lee
Eric Chavez
Corey Patterson
Andy Marte
Prince Fielder

Gonzo, Lee, and Konerko have all gone on to have 40 homerun seasons. Chavez and Floyd have both had 30 homerun seasons.

I'd be scared off by that name.

Doesn't mean anything... Corey is a different animal than Delmon.

Several people have him rated the best prospect in baseball so maybe he don't have 40 HR potential but he is going to be good.
You don't have to like 'em to own 'em!!!!

That was pretty much what some scouts said when he first came out of H.S. The school of thought was that he is related to Da Meat Hook (Dmitri his brother) so he could follow in his foot steps. Since then though he has prooved them all wong by shedding the excess weight and getting into great shape this past year. Delmon wants to be the best, he knows he can't gain pounds like his brother to accomplish what he wants. Of course later on he could get bigger muscle wise and that might slow him down, but for the near future I wouldn't worry about it.

Yep, there isn't anyone real close to him IMO. Maybe Justin will be after this year, but Delmon will be in the majors by then so it's a moot point.

I just got both Delmon and J.Upton in a recent 16 team dynasty league with many knowledgeable (half or so cafe guys) owners. If you can only keep a minor leaguer for 4 years, do you think J. Upton is still a first round guy?
