Three talented pitchers who have never lived up to their potential. I like the Mets side in this deal, especially considering the money involved.

Maine's not even 25 years old and has only pitched 43 innings in MLB. Don't see how he can be lumped in with Benson and Julio. Once again, the Orioles get older and worse through a trade. There are no signs of intelligent life in Camden Yards.

Does this mean that Chris Ray is the closer now for the Oreo's? Surelly they wont plug Hawkins in there.
Not sure i really like this deal for the O's. They allready have a lot of starting pitching, Bedard, Cabrera, Bruce, Lopez.

Money aside, seems to be a pretty good deal for the O's in my opinion.
A starting rotation of Bedard, Benson, Lopez, Cabrera & Chen isn't too shabby. No stars, but all pretty solid.

I wonder if Leo Mazzoni had anything to do with this deal?

Maine's likely to be as good as Benson is this year and is younger and cheaper. Benson adds nothing to the team's success in 2006 (and it's not like they are going to be in contention anyway), and in terms of building for the future, Maine's the only one who has a hope of contributing.
Just a totally, useless, useless move that does not improve the team now, and actually weakens it for the future.

Don't see why the Mets would make this trade...
