i can also vouch for 1998 nissan pathfinders. i've put about $2000 into it over the 3 years and 30k miles i've owned it, but its money that will keep it going much longer.

question on BMW's...I was looking at them used...but was told not to get them because to get them repaired costs much more than a Civic per se because I have to bring it to a BMW specific shop. Is this true?

sort of. there are things my dad takes his to the local shop for and things he takes it to the dealer for. not sure what for each though.
