Hughes...

lester is the better prospect right now, but Hughes has legitimate ace potential

Lester is the better choice right now, as he has peformed very well at a higher level and didn't have any injuries I'm aware of. Though personally I like Hughes more and wouldn't be surprised to see him end up a better SP in the majors.

Lester will be up this season, whether it's ineffectiveness from our starters or some long relief in September (like Papelbon). I would think Hughes will exclusively be in the minors this season.

Lester, better. Better short term and long. Most of the scouts agree that he is the second best lefty starter in the minors.

Lester will start the year in AAA Pawtucket. If he does well he could be up by June-July

Lester is probably going to be better, but the Yanks are long overdue on producing an ace-like pitcher out of their own system.

Hughes could be the guy.
