Girlfriends and Computers...

Postby RynMan » Wed Jan 18, 2006 9:48 pm

I just got a new computer. Bought the parts, put it together, installed WIndows 2000. I have installed a few basic programs and games and she runs brilliantly. Anyway, got ADSL connected yesterday and my girlfriend calls me today informing me that she is going to install a copy of MS Office onto the computer but needs a serial, and went looking for one. She also downloaded a screensaver that looked cool that was on one of the popups that came up.

Day one and she has driven me mad. I wonder how much spyware my computer already has.

How do you guys control your girlfriend's or room-mates from screwing up your computer????

I don't want to stop her from using it altogether......just not stupid things like surfing on sites that are probably contagious.

but doesn't spyware affect the entire hard drive :-?

you buy her her own P.O.S to ruin. I get nervous when my wife uses it by herself.

Anything from spyware or viruses would effect the whole computer, not just one account. I don't think Windows 2000 has account management like that anyway (correct me if I'm wrong Ryn).

Maybe just hit her in the head. :-?

we were getting a lot of spyware through internet explorer...i told her to switch to firefox and things have been running a lot better lately. :-)

i guess you gotta get those spybot and other spyware control things to clean up the computer every now and then...
