I agree personally. It really depends on what you will be doing. Because it's only a $20-30 difference, AND the 7200 is a better brand - I wouldn't hesitate to spend the extra $$$. But, if money is tight then look for a cheaper 5400, IMO.
Can you boot from an external harddrive with a laptop cause those are cheap and lots bigger....ALthough I guess they overheat sometimes
I don't know for sure, but I've never seen a bootable USB device. I could be wrong, however.
It would be sweet if you could then you could put knoppix on a usb key and use that as your OS for whatever computer you went too
There's your ticket to retirement if you could figure out a way. I agree with you, it would be great. Not to mention you could just take your entire computer with you anywhere, even if you are a windows user you would still have Firefox and its bookmarks, and all of your documents.

Yea that would pretty much be the coolest thing ever
Cool find acs. I really think it's the wave of the future more or less. Imagine having shell machines (without HDs) located in public places to simply plug your "computer" aka flash drive in to the USB slot to boot up. Technology is awesome.
You need to check your BIOS but most BIOS companies are adding the feature to boot from USB. You may have to flash the BIOS if youe computer isn't real new.
I prefer 7200 as well and it really shines when playing games that do a lot of disk access. If you're just an Internet surfer it may not be worth the extra money if you're budget conscious.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
