Yea I love the deal for our future. Tiffany while not quite a stud can surely be a solid #3 or #4 starter in the bigs. If Edwin can turn around his past 2 years problems, then we will have picked up a #1 type to go along with Kazmir and Niemann. I would love to see a rotation in 07 of Kazmir, Niemann, Free agent, Jackson and Tiffany.

Your a Rays fan? Well if so welcome aboard!
Anyways yeah like I mentioned on the trade in "baseball leftovers" I love the trade and think it was just what we needed. I'd be pretty happy if we could deal Gathright for some more young depth as well.
I've been a D-Rays fan for about 4 years. I was a big Yanks fan in the days of Mattingly (my childhood hero), but then the Yanks bumped the payroll up about $150 million (traded Soriano, brought in GayRod, Hideki, Sheffield.....).
The D-Rays represent true baseball. My hometown is Montgomery, AL where the AA Biscuits are, so I have seen the future stars and love them.
Let's just hope the Jackson we get is the one from 2003, not the last two years. I like the improvment Kaz has made the last couple of years, so here's hoping the staff can do the same for Jackson.
Tiffany is interesting. I have high hopes but there's something about LA LH pitching prospects - they seem to come up with 1 or 2 more every year, but none seem to pan out.
Now, if the Olsen/Gathright rumors are correct, and the Rays have been offered that trade, then they need to be all over it. I really like Olsen and think he's ready to step into the rotation now. Like the Braves of the late 80s, gotta give the young pitchers a couple of years to learn the ropes. Take 2006 and 2007 as building years and have everyone poised for 2008+.

2003 was Jackson't first year pitching. I heard during the next offseason, LAD tweaked his delivery and he's been messed up ever since then. It TB can do with him with what they did with Orvella after a position switch, he'll at the top of the rotation. I can see Kazmir, Niemann, Jackson and Hammel in the rotation by the end of '06, with Tiffany and Sonannstine coming in '07. That's six guys that can be in our rotation in two years. We've got guys like Wade Davis behind them also.
