Battle of All-time College Football teams?

Postby BaseballFann0008 » Sat Jan 14, 2006 11:50 am

Should our next battle be to find out which college football team was the greatest of all time?

The Top 200 teams are ranked here:

http://www.cfrc.com/Archives/Top_200_2003.htm

We would take the top 32, and see who is really #1.

Maybe it's just me, but the polls have had their time to shine, now it's baseball that has the spotlight.

We've already had enough long battles and anyway if your going to do a battle, a battle between college football teams seems kind of boring. It has to be something creative and unique like the BSSC or BUSS.

I vote no - the current teams will undoubtedly win as most of us are not old enough to remember the great teams of the '50s and '60s.

Plus, there are only a select group of people here (including myself) that actually care about college football so it would be boring for most.

I didn't click on the link, but how high do they have the 2005 USC Trojans? Got to be like 2nd or 3rd all-time, right? ;-7 :-b

I say no, we don't do this.

It only goes through 2003, so the Trojans of this year and last year (who I think was even better than this year's team) and the Longhorns are not on there.

i think it would be boring...it's just kinda dumb in my opinion to sit here and debate whether the '64 cougars were better than the '74 panthers...i know those aren't real teams but you get the idea. I mean, I care about college football and all but i care more about who is getting recruited by who for next season than whether desmond howard could burn some corner for a 60s era DB.

Just my opinion though, the newer teams would destroy the older ones across the board. Players are SO much faster now that the older teams probably wouldn't stand a chance. They may have been in shape but I'm pretty sure that people didn't train with weights back then and they certainly didn't know how best to take care of their bodies and how to improve them with the research that we've done in the past several years.

Leyland said, "We thought we were getting a hell of a player, but Neifi simply did not perform well."
