JERUSALEM -- US television evangelist Pat Robertson's claim that Ariel Sharon's stroke was an act of God has triggered a bout of soul-searching in Israel about the Jewish state's relationship with right-wing Christians.
Robertson, a hellfire-and-brimstone preacher known for his controversial remarks, triggered a storm of protest last week by suggesting that Sharon had been struck down for overseeing the pullout from Gaza, the first-ever Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian land.
Could he get any more offensive?
His comments, hours after Sharon suffered a brain haemorrhage, prompted Israel to cancel a $50-million contract with Robertson to build a new Christian heritage center in the Galilee.

Hail to the Redskins, Hail to victory, Braves on the warpath fight for ol' DC
I just read this... apparently Robertson had a $50 million deal with the Isrealis to build a biblical theme park. Then Robertson insults their leader and suggest that God caused his stroke.
Well, obviously, the Isrealis took some offense to this and nixed the contract. Now, boo hoo, Robertson is sorry. Are you kidding? He's only sorry after losing $50 million? Shows how much of a real Christian he is; it's all about the Benjamins with this guy (and pretty much any other televangelist).
Hopefully some of Robertson's supporters will realize how much of a crook and a hypocrit he is. Hopefully it will also cause Robertson to think twice before opening his big, hateful mouth. But the damage is done; he's only sorry about insulting people in the name of God if there's money involved.
I thought the talk about a biblical center continues without him involved. But yeah, that was stupid. But can you say you are surprised? I mean, he's old, Alzheimers could be catching on to him.

Basically, the deal to build the park and the $50 million contract was for Robertson... now Israel says they're still open to building the park; just not with him!

Without a doubt, Robertson is still way down on the Offensive and Stupid List. Although Robertson's recent comments did put a scare into the current leader of the O&S List, forcing him to reaffirm his lead with a new plot.

That is f'ed up. Why couldn't he do that after Katrina? Maybe then he would have caught a bullet.
