moving the a's (answered)

Before moving to Oakland, Charlie Finley had attempted (unsuccessfully) to move the Kansas City A's to a different city. What was this destination?

if I remember correctly I read this somewhere...

he was told to move them to a couple of places and Oakland was like the 3rd place...

I'm gonna guess that it was Seattle

Hmm... come to think of it, that probably wasn't the best way to pose this question, since Finley at least considered any number of cities... Let's narrow it down: in which city had Finley actually signed a stadium lease before his request to relocate was turned down by the A.L.?

Apologies for asking too broad a question...

(Incidentally, I don't believe Seattle was ever mentioned while the team was still in K.C. - it was when the A's were already in Oakland that that plan came up...)

Bingo. Without the stadium lease addendum, you could have picked practically every major metropolitan area on the continent: Dallas, Atlanta, etc. etc.
