How does everyone feel about Oswalt for the rest of the season? I have an offer on the table where I could get him, and my only concern is whether he'll actually pitch the second half. Not much detail about his injury though.

Anyone have any thoughts?

"Roy Oswalt rejoined the club Saturday after leaving Thursday to return to his home in Weir, Miss., for personal reasons. The right-hander, who has eight days remaining until he can come off the disabled list, played catch Saturday but did not have a timetable as to when he would throw his next bullpen session." - Courtesy of MLB.com

I subscribe to the philosophy of a stud is a stud, and Oswalt is a stud. I say take a chance, but only if the guy you are dropping for him is nothing special.

:-[ Having hung onto RJ all season....and now hanging onto Oswalt AGAIN....it's tough to get answers out of Team web pages(i.e. D-backs and Astros) as to then your DL players will return...exactly....so you take a chance...Oswalt should be rested...but Groin injuries almost NEVER go away completely :-[

oswalt on the squad...

Postby stevejeltz215 » Mon Jun 23, 2003 2:21 am

I ALSO have been sitting on the Unit all year (he slipped to 5 in my 12 team head to head) and made a deal 2 weeks ago where I gave up Gil Meche and Robert Fick for Oswalt and Carl Crawford. I figured you KNOW Oswalt is the real deal (avg #20 pick in espn drafts) and I picked Meche off waivers during the 1st week of the season as a random starter who worked out. I think Oswalt will be fine, the Astros are just gonna be careful, as they should. SO no CG's for a while, but i don't see why he won't be himself for the duration of the season.
