Is it me, or is Sickels' stuff overpriced? He's a great guy for minor league stuff, but the only thing holding back from giving him money are his prices.
His 2006 prospect book, which can ONLY be bought from his site, is 24.95 w/ shipping. Amazon has Baseball America's for about 18.50, probably about 21 with shipping. Deric McKamey, who works for Shandler, has a fantasy-oriented minors book out this year... walmart.com has it for under 13.
Sickels' newsletter, I believe, is 39.95 for a year. For the same price, you can get ESPN Insider or Baseball Prospectus. Sickels provides a lot of great info, but is far from the best deal here.
I'm interested in what he has to offer, but not at his prices. I'd probably be "in on" his stuff if the book was 19.99 total and the newsletter was 29.99 total. But his competetors offer things not much different, and perhaps better, for less money.
Maybe not having re-sellers hurts Sickels price wise, but I imagine his book would do quite well in retail. I know I looked for it at Barnes and Noble last year, and was going to buy it, but they had BA's book and I bought that instead....
