Stewart has been a major dissapointment for me this year. I saw his 10 steals in the second half last year and figured he was good for 20 steals this year. We all know how that turned out. Notice that Reed Johnson, the new leadoff hitter has zero steals also. That's when I knew to release Stewart.
"And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere. But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear." - The Rains of Castamere
He should be good for a .300 average and will have lots of runs batting leadoff for one of the league's best offenses right now. It is highly likely that he gets traded though and it might be to a team that will give him the green light. Tosca just hates the steal, hates the hit and run and hates the sac bunt so don't look for any Jays players to rack up SB's while he is still the manager.
I was a little concerned since Cat sat tonight for Stewart's return and Johnson played RF. Then I read this, hopefully it's what the Blue Jays have in mind:
"With Shannon Stewart returning from the disabled list, Reed Johnson (OF) Tor will likely see a drastic reduction in playing time. He's expected to start in right field on Monday, however, as Frank Catalanotto will get a routine night off. It's at least possible the Jays will give Catalanotto a few starts at third base down the road, which will give Johnson more opportunites to play the outfield. "
man, when that guy played in texas, he did everything but pitch. i don't know how eligibility works, exactly, but i'm suprised he's not already eligible as a 3rd baseman.
