don;t you check your player notes some where? Try rototimes.com

Jun. 20 MLB.com reports that Shannon Stewart (OF) Tor will spend the weekend at Triple-A Syracuse to test out his injured hamstring. "He's going to play in one or two games, just so he feels like he can go 100 percent," manager Carlos Tosca said. If all goes well, Stewart will return to the lineup on Monday.

i'm looking for more of an honest assessment of stewart's current speed/power ceiling. if all he provides from here through the end of the season is AVG, he's not much use in non-keepers.

Shannon's been a great fantasy player in the past, but I think that reign is over. There was a time when he stole 50+ bases. Not anymore, you'd be lucky if he stole 10 this year. There was a time that he hit 20+ Home runs. Not anymore, you'd be lucky if he hit 10 this year. Shannon has a solid average and enough speed to be an asset at the leadoff spot, but he's slowed by a hamstring injury, and his power seems to be in the 10-15 home run range. These two factors limit his value as a fantasy player. Hardly worth having in a Yahoo 5x5 league.

Why the hell isn't he stealing bases anymore? Every baseball player I can think of either drives in runs, smashes 30 homers, or steals bases. WHAT THE HELL HAS GOTTEN INTO SHANNON STEWART????? He used to be a speed DEMON...

Also the Blue Jays team in general just doesn't steal bases. Carlos Tosca has been quoted as saying he hates the steal and he hates the sacrifice bunt because he doesn't like giving up outs to move runners. It's probably understandable why they wouldn't want to play small ball with the power they have in that lineup.

One thing to look out for is that the Jays are probably going to try to deal Stewart for a starting pitcher or maybe a closer. Reed Johnson has played very well while Stewart was on the DL so they have to reason to keep him with his $5 million salary. If he gets traded to another contending team or one that gives the green light more often, his value would go up.

Blue Jays are just sitting back and swining for the fences. Works good for Delgado.

I wouldn't go as far as calling him "useless", but he's no longer a good player. He deserves a bench spot in standard 12 team, 5x5 leagues because of his AVG and RUNS, he will get you some HRs, SBs, and RBIs.
