This christmas I recieved a iPod video. I spent half of my morning trying to figure out how to convert the videos to the right type of file. I finally found the right site and program, so I thought I would share just incase some other iPod owners needed some help like I did.

Yeah, theres some tutorials on there about DVD decrypting also, but I haven't tried it yet.
But you can't just rip straight from the DVD to the IPod video machine using the IPod software?
Unfortunetly not.
Are you sure??? A guy I talked to at Radio Shack told me it was possible...pretty weak on Apple and the dude at the Shack if you can't.
I'm not totally sure, but I don't think you can. The DVD files must be MPEG-4 format to be used on the iPod, I believe. My understanding is that you must decrypt the DVD file so it is an MPEG-4 before putting it on your iPod.
A good site I found for questions like these is http://www.ilounge.com if you go to the TV/Video forum, they should have answers to that. Though I'm pretty sure you can't just put it on straight from the DVD. I guess it's iPod way of making money to buy the converted files.
However, it may be possible. I'm not entirely sure.
