they throw them around alot on the football side, basically after you make one sig.. it seems on the baseball side you get one after a while and have esablished yourself as an artist who makes sigs for other people

Yeah, it takes a lot longer to get one around here. I got mine after I made like 50 sigs/avs in a weekend The mods are watching, though, so don't fret.

Yeah, they're not easy to get, but don't take quantity over quality, 10 high quality, well-made sigs outweigh 20 sloppy and unoriginal sigs IMO.
I think most of the guys who have the artist palettes mess around with graphics and create sigs because it's what they enjoy doing... I think the powers that be can smell someone who is only pumping out a bunch of mediocre sigs in an effort to get the icon.
Not a slam on you at all, Baseballfann, just an observation. I've seen your stuff and you have talent; you have a knack for laying out your sigs in an eye-catching way. However, you are software-impaired. You need to download the Gimp and learn to use it, otherwise you're just handicapping yourself by using a much weaker program.
Baseballfann, I don't think he meant it in a negative way. What he was trying to say that they could be better with the right software. I've noticed your sigs and I think you have loads of talent, but you need to maybe get an upgraded program or work on cutting your images out.

Trust me, I'm impressed with most of your stuff.
I agree with crum and gjg, just work on cutting out your images, it will make things look a lot smoother. You should also check out http://www.goodtutorials.com (its written for photoshop, but as long as you get the basic jist of the tutorial, you can probably get a similar result for the gimp), or another site like that, and they might help give you some ideas for backgrounds and effects you could use that would make your sigs look more "professional". I also agree with crum in that the guys who do graphics around here don't do it for the logo, but because we enjoy it
