this wasnt the first time this came up. something similar to this came up ealier this offseason didnt it?
i dont really see a fit for the diamondbacks and red sox. Maybe they could have packaged Shoppach and some pitching for him, but they got estrada for the backstop now. diamondbacks need pitching, which the red sox dont have to spare. i remember earlier there was a angels-d'back-red sox rumor floating around. manny to sox, glaus to red sox, and some top prospects from both sides to d'backs.
as a yankee fan, if you lose manny and replace is with glaus.

the early talk about acquiring Glaus was with Anaheim in the mix and us trading Manny away. This is a seperate deal on it's own.
Yes, the plan would be to play Glaus at 1st and leave Youk out in the cold. Maybe he'd be part of the deal, he and Shoppach?
The Sox have said they will take the $40mil they had allocated for Damon and use it, so it's stands to reason with no quality FA left they are pursuing some their holes via trades.
Most likely one of Clement/Arroyo/Wells would be the centerpiece of any deal, probably Clement. I would doubt the Red Sox would give up any significant prospects; Shoppach sounds like the right caliber, but with Estrada/Snyder/Hill already in Arizona, he would seem to be less desirable to such a club.
