Prior mentioned in multiteam trade talks

Postby ThatDude » Thu Dec 22, 2005 11:16 pm

lots of different rumors being circulated, but they all come from this little piece

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com ... me-utility

More than one source has claimed the Cubs dangled pitcher Mark Prior in multiteam trade talks that would land them premier Baltimore shortstop Miguel Tejada and eventually send Prior to a team in the American League West. Hmmm …

like i said, theres dozens of rumors flying around, and until they can at least decide which AL West team is involved (some say A's, some say Angels), ill put zero stock in any of them. although this one is certainly my favorite of them all:

Hill, Novoa, Murton, Bedard to Oakland
Prior, Williams to Orioles
Tejada, Zito, Kotsay to Cubs

as much i dont want to trade Prior, i would have to seriously think about something like that. however, if Prior does get dealt, i seriously doubt we would get that much back, that is a huge package of players moving there and almost seems too big to get done

you mean you dont want it to happen, and id be willing to bet the only aspect of the idea youve considered is the emotional one.

the size and boldness of your font has no bearing on the situation.

the size and boldness was to get peoples attention. I just think it wont happen, and it would be stupid for the cubs to give up prior. Cedano will be fine the cubs dont need Tejada. This is just my opinion though.

theres better ways to do that, some of them are actually productive too

maybe not

depending on the exact deal, it might be a good move. Tejada for example is under contract for 4 more years at a reasonable $48M, while Prior has an arb case this year and his long term status is uncertain. ive heard different versions of the rumor that included either Zito or Bedard ending up as Cubs as well, which could go a long way to picking up the slack in the rotation, and there are more than a few very good live arms on the farm.

i think Cedeno will be more than fine, and he would be more than fine at 2B as well. just like he would have if Furcal had been signed

no moreso than that last post did, and both are equally without merit to the topic at hand
