I'm willing to bet this deal helps the Giants more than the Angels.
Finley had a tough time adjusting to AL after spending 30 years in the NL. He's a solid player who brings a lot more to the table than Alfonzo IMO.
Also, as Wveres mentioned, this potentially blocks McPherson. It is becoming more evident that Angels managment doesn't have a whole lot of faith in Dallas.

This has nothing to do with Dallas. Finley was no longer wanted in Anaheim. They got rid of him for whatever they could get. Alfonzo will be a backup, its that simple. DMAC has been hurt a lot in his early career, all this does is provide an insurance.
The Angels want to move Figgins the CF. If anybody were to take DMACs job it would be Figgins with Rivera moving to CF.

Feliz has had his chances to play everyday. The first time he couldn't handle the job. The second time he got tired by midseason. And most recently he got Larry Krueger fired.
LMAO But, I think that if he gets the chance to settle down and play everyday at the same postition, instead of having to worry about moving all over the place, he will be a solid starting player in the major leagues.

Amazing ... Bonds, Finley, Alou could be the starting OF (since Felipe doesn't have a DH!). They are all 40+ !!!!

Good move on the Giants part. They got rid of a headache that has been bothering them for years. In exchange for the headache that was a Giants killer.
If you can't beat em, buy em.
The Giants will be paying a $1mil option to get rid of Alfonzo now.
The glass is neither half full nor half empty... It is simply a glass
Well this really for the most part seems like a trade just to move people who weren't happy. Finley will be a pretty good backup OF, and Alfonzo...well he hasn't been much of anything for awhile.
Finley is the better player in the deal, but it made sure that Sciosia can't start Finley over Figgins or Rivera or whoever... it means that Sciosia can't hold onto hope that Finley will turn it around... Alfonzo is just going to be a backup, why is everyone all of a sudden giving up on Dallas? He has one injury and misses a few months of the season and now he's an underachieving bum? Give him a couple of years before handing him that label.
