Bernie Williams Signs with Yankees

Postby BronXBombers51 » Wed Dec 21, 2005 5:02 pm

I guess it's official now. A one year deal, one which will likely be his last. I'm not sure how much it was for but I'd imagine it was around $2 million. He'll likely split the DH role with Andy Phillips.

No link but ESPNews is reporting it. I'm glad to see him back in the Bronx.

Good signing, he can serve as a good off the bench hitter and as a spot started. Of course it's also just nice to have Bernie around. ;-D

Isn't there a rule for how much of a pay cut a player can take from his last salary? Bernie for 1.5 is a solid bench player and a solid signing for the Yanks.

Only for players not yet eligible for free agency. I think that time has long since passed for Bernie. :-b
