There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

Only the Yankees and the Sox could throw 2 million at an injured reliever who may not pitch till June.
Most teams need to trade away their second baseman to clear budget room, just to sign there own closer ...

another huge dis-advantage, that needs to be fixed by a salary cap.
Dodgers FAIL, Mets FAIL, Canada FAIL.

Great deal. $2 million for a reliever who has tremendous stuff and could supply a great boost to a depleted bullpen at midseason. Definately worth the risk, especially for only $2 million. ;-D ;-D ;-D

I agree with that. It's a small risk with a high potential reward. If he busts, it's not a big deal.

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

I don't think they included an option in the contract, though I wish they had. If he returns to Astro-form as a setup man though, I doubt they'll let him get away. They'll throw a load of money at him if that happens.

Another thumbs up here. ;-D

Dotel has tremendous stuff and will thrive in the closers role.

I think this is a good deal, he could pitch as early as late may from reports I've heard, and only 2 mil for a guy that can be a great middle reliever.

Except I don't think he'll be closing though. They have Mo.
