It wouldn't surprise me that the Cubs do this deal, based on the offseason that they have had thus far. IMO Hendry is not a very good GM, therefore bringing in an expensive version of Todd Walker to replace him is a bad move, even if Ryan Church is thrown in.

If you make a deal with Jim Bowden and he comes out with the better side, you should be shot.

I think it would benefit the Nationals more to try and trade Soriano. I heard a rumor saying that he wants to return to the American league as soon as possible. I can't see him staying with the nationals longer than this season even if he does get to play second base like he wants.

Church is already hitting for a good average(.287) and will probably hit 20 dingers for Washington if he play fulltime.

Trading him AND Vidro for Kerry Wood? What has he done last year? I know Vidro is expandable now with Soriano but you don't just give one of your franchise player away.

I'd like this deal for the Nats, assuming Wood stays healthy (I know how dangerous that assumption is...). Could be a nice rotation with Livan and Patterson. But DC sports radio was pretty skeptical tonight.

The skinny on Soriano is that a) he will refuse to play 2nd and b) plans on returning to the AL when he becomes a FA in 2007. I leave NY, come to DC, and that jerk follows me here. Argh.
