DFW - KTCK 1310 Reporting Chris Young for Eaton and Otsuka. I think there's more to it - will post more as I hear it.

More details - Texas gave Adrian Gonzalez, recently acquired Terrmel Sledge as well. SD gives prospect to be named later.

Great deal for both sides, IMO, thanks for posting this. I will miss Young, but getting Otsuka is a huge plus, and Eaton still has good potential though it's getting frustrating that he's not realizing it. Perhaps he needs a new start, though Arlington is likely not the place he would have picked.

Adrian Gonzalez just had no place in the lineup, so I will not miss him at all. A valuable setup man like Otsuka can always be traded again around the deadline if Texas falls out of the race.

FYI - Rangers front office has not confirmed as of yet, but media in both areas are reporting it as a done deal.

Player W L ERA K BB WHIP AGE
Young 12 7 4.26 137 45 1.26 26
Eaton 11 5 4.27 100 44 1.43 28
Otsuka 2 8 3.59 60 34 1.42 33

- I can't really complain about the loss there...Young in Arlington performed better than Eaton in Petco. Eaton has been a headache since he came here, with injuries and unfulfilled potential. Young comes in after his first full season in the league...can't complain about that or his 6'10" frame.
- Gonzalez is from San Diego and has put up terrific minor league numbers. Getting him allows us to forget Klesko (finally) and certainly makes our team better in 2006.
- Sledge was hurt in '05...his '04 ratios were good.

Great trade by KT. :-)

Seems like a great trade for San Diego, although losing a quality middle reliever is tough. Could well pan out for both clubs if Eaton becomes solid (well solid as solid can be in Arlington).

Is it just me or did the Rangers get raped in this trade?

Eaton was awful playing in PETCO against NL West offense, not mention that he makes 3 mill
Otsuka was awful on the road (BAA of 324 !+)

Chirs Young isn't a pitcher to get excited about, but he is much cheaper than Eaton and had a decent stats considering that fact that he played in Arlington against AL teams.
And added to that they give up 2 cheap players who are capable of producing decent numbers.
