Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

firstval, what you mean "free world"?
Second, I always thought Microsoft and Sony makes money by selling games, not consoles. And the reason I don't see China being a huge videogame market? Piracy. I mean, Madden sells here for $60, that's roughly 480 yuan. I know people that live off 480 yuan a month. Of course they will probably sell games at 60-80 yuan, but it's still quite expensive.

The more consoles you sell, the more games you sell. Not vice versa.

I don't get what I meant right? I thought I heard somewhere that companies are LOSING MONEY selling consoles and they start to MAKE MONEY by selling video games(and licensing them) afterwards.
Now what if nobody buy legal games and everybody buy pirated ones at 1/10 the cost after they buy the console?
you still need to explain "free world" to me

Yes, video game console makers typically lose money on systems, and make it back on game sales.
However, without a large installed user base (lots of systems sold), developers will stop making games for a particular system due to not being able to sell enough copies of their games.
End result: Death of a system.
It's still too early to say how the 360 will do overseas, but for now it's not looking too good for Microsoft over there.
