Has anyone else checked out Blackalicious' new CD? I just downloaded it off iTunes and I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts. I thought that it was very good, not quite at the level of Blazing Arrow or Nia, but still much better then a lot of the crap that gets so much publicity. Gift still spits it better than anyone, and although XCel's beats aren't as good as the have been in the past, its still a solid Blackalicious CD ;-D

I was a little disappointed in this album. It isn't near the level of A2G, NIA, or Blazing Arrows. It isn't as good as some of the other Quannum releases (Lyrics Born's solo and Latyrx...if you haven't checked those yet and you like Blackalicious then get them, you wont be disappointed), but is better than Gab's 'Fourth Dimensional Rocket Ships Going Up'.

But, as you said...it's still better than 95% of the stuff that gets more airplay than it.

Pretty much sums it up as far as I was concerned. These guys have set a pretty high bar for themselves, so even if it's only their fourth-best disc, it still says a lot. I still think Lyric Fathom is the greatest single hiphop track ever. ;-D
