I asked tyhis a few weeks ago, and figured I'd revisit it:
Is it worth dropping Burrell for Burnitz? Jeromy has been pretty solid for awhile now, and I'm afraid he won't last on waiver wires for much longer. With today's homer, he passed Burrell's season totals (this is even though Burrell has been playting all season, while Burnitz missed six weeks with a broken hand).
OK, I just made the switch. Burrell is now the newest resident on the waiver wire in my league. Hopefully he won't heat up, causing me to regret this decision.
the old burnitz was a .250, 30 HR guy. this year, he looks like he's back to that form. i think he's worth dropping burrell for, since burrell will hvae to go on a streak to get to where burnitz' avg season has been. as for next year, definitely take burrell. he might have to redeem himself big time in 2004
He doesn't just look bad, he looks like he has no idea what he is doing at the plate.
I held out as long as I could. I even hoped the small gain he made a week or so ago was a sign of him coming around, but after watching his clueless AB's today, I am done with him.
I highly doubt he will have any kind of surge in the second half as he did last year. He just has way too many holes in his swing and he has zero confidence, combined, that is death.
I've been dragging Burrell around since the beginning, when I drafted him way to high anyway, loser. I've got Jacque Jones, and Fick, and Burnitz on the wire that I'm contemplating. Who do you think I should grab?
I'd take Jones. Not as many homers as Burnitz, but higher average and you'll also get some SB's. Frankly, I'm surprised he's available.

Thanks for the reply! Jones became a FA today, so I doubt if he'll last too long. Somebody just dropped Danny Baez today, and I'm thinking I should hold my waiver spot for that. Hmmmm.....
