Computer Problem?

For about the past month or so, my computer been acting a little strangely. About once or twice a week, it'll just start whirring up like a jet engine, and become moderately loud. It goes away once I restart it, but does anyone know what it could be? Is it the fan, because it gets too hot, the hard drive, or something else?

That's the first thing you need to determine, because it could be the fan or the har drive. If it is the fan, it means your computer's just processing a little hot. Strangely enough, I had a similar problem, particularly when I'd do something that used a lot of resources, and some extra RAM cleared it up.

If it's the hard drive, you could have a problem brewing.

It is probably the processor fan. Open up the case while the computer is running and you should be able to tell for sure. It is probably a bad bearing in the fan which is why it will reset with the computer and then start again after spin up. While the case is open make sure the blades are still spinning and that it's not locked up. Either way you'll want to replace it but if it's locked up or intermittent you'll want to replace it immediately.
