I just happened to catch the end of a story on NESN of the sox involved in a potential trade involving marte from the sox and crips from the indians, I didnt hear the whole thing, but didnt see anythign on here about it either? ANyoen have any more specifics about this?

Hmm, makes sense to me. The Indians have Sizemore in CF, the Sox could use crisp. Youkilis is probably their long term solution at 3rd, but Marte is better. This trade probably work both ways. I'd probably rather have Marte, but the Sox can really afford to give him up and they need a CF now.

Crisp is a legit pro. Marte hasn't done anything and has been overhyped.

I just heard the other part of the story, and I guess it is Marte and mota to cleve for Crisp, and I think I may have seen this on this forum a few days ago. I agree he would be a solid CF replacement for Damon if he does not resign, but they must be fairly down on Mota to include him in the deal too, just my thoughts.

This rumor seems to have some validity. I have read about it from more than one source. It may well happen if the Sox do not re-sign Damon. Since there seems to be some advance planning, it doesn't seem like the Bosox are very confident about Damon re-signing with them :-o

I know that he has potential but even in the minors Marte has been a sub .300 hitter with little power and little speed.

Crisp is a .300 hitter in the majors who has shown 15/20 power/speed combo. Crisp is only 4 yrs Marte's senior and could be a .300 20/20 guy with above-average defense.

Marte got tabbed with the can't miss prospect label very early but his strikeout totals have been terrible and he is not progressing very well. So why is everyone so high on this guy?

The Red Sox are having ongoing discussions with the Cleveland Indians about a trade for outfielder Coco Crisp, with the pricetag expected to be either starter Bronson Arroyo or Matt Clement.
