Blast from the Past - Batista

Postby converge241 » Thu Dec 15, 2005 5:05 pm

Twins signed third baseman Tony Batista to a one-year contract.
As long as it's $1 million or less and he's not being promised a starting job, it's fine. Batista, released by his team in Japan halfway through a two-year, $15 million contract, hit .241/.272/.455 for the Expos in 2004. In 2003, he finished at .235/.270/.393 for the Orioles. As a power-hitter off the bench, he could be decent enough. As a regular third baseman, he wouldn't help the Twins. Dec. 15 - 3:45 pm et

I love sh!t like this:
yes, these #s look terrible
.241/.272/.455

or even worse
235/.270/.393

but, they come with about 30 dingdongs, 100 RBIs and a handful of steals. For fantasy purposes, this is considerably better than a typical season from Beltre. Oh, and he's only 31 and almost always plays every day. I'll be filling my empty CI slots with him in the late rounds.

Sadly, Batista is probably the 2nd best slugger on the Twins right now :-b

We finally get the big homerun guy that we have always needed, YES!!! :-B

He better be used as a pinch hitter, if he starts everyday then the Twins are screwed. He's worse then Junior Ortiz :-D

Sadly maybe #1...

Not a bad singing, not great but interesting...

Check this stat out...

251/298/458 - Batista's career numbers

243/300/407 - Blalock's career numbers on the road

Interesting... probably not worth Fransico Lirinano...
