Twins signed third baseman Tony Batista to a one-year contract.
As long as it's $1 million or less and he's not being promised a starting job, it's fine. Batista, released by his team in Japan halfway through a two-year, $15 million contract, hit .241/.272/.455 for the Expos in 2004. In 2003, he finished at .235/.270/.393 for the Orioles. As a power-hitter off the bench, he could be decent enough. As a regular third baseman, he wouldn't help the Twins. Dec. 15 - 3:45 pm et
