Just to add my CV...3 years in several office leagues and a couple of other miscellaneous leagues. I tanked last year experimenting w/ the middle reliever strategy but did find the experience educational.

Man we have one lazy Commissioner.

well, we still have some time until Opening Day so I can't really complain...still, w/ the 'will Yahoo REALLY open, or will the open and crash or will the mysteriously not open...' questions in the air, one can get rather jazzed up about now....

This way I can be a little more responsive to those who seeking an expansion team.

Here is a redacted version of the best request I've received so far for an expansion spot in the league. I don't know about you all, but I was really leaning toward voting against expansion until I read this. I will attempt to make the redactions appear in a different color so you all know where I have tampered.

Heyhey,

Well let me start off by saying my name is **** and I'm an alcoholic. Just kidding haha. I'm 17 years old, born and raised in <insert hometown>. I'm a huge <insert hometown team> fan. One of my first clear memories is <insert hometown hero> hitting that homerun in the World Series . This will be my second year of fantasy baseball. I finished second and first in my two money leauges last year. TI probably would have won both but the leauge I finished 2nd in had two catcher positions, which i didn't learn about until augest .

What else? I've only been playing for two years but my dad has been playing for, I don't know, 20 years? When I was a little kid he would go out for the night to his draft and come home after midnight and show me his team. My first gaming console was bought from the winnings of one of his leauges . So I guess you could say I have a little bit more insight than most 2nd year players but I'm still learning alot.

As for what I'm looking for in a leauge, just a competitive leauge with a good group of active members. Yahoo public leauges really blow. Trading and quick WW pickups and just general activity make a leauge 10x better.

that's an amusing story...full of Dostoyevskyan pathos and existential angst!! I can't fax you my driver's license as I got a 90 in a 65 and haven't got it back yet but I'm 37 if that helps situate me in terms of what you are looking for.

I'm just checking in but will keep lurking around to see what happens. Thanks for your help though...

does anybody remember the standings from last year?

I totally finished in 2nd place. Why the heck anyone would care where the rest of you yahoos finished is beyond me.

But I remember that Mr. "I'm in 4th/5th/6th place" was hovering somewhere around, say, 5th place.

And either Dillon's Demons or Danimal's Animals won the thing, though to be honest I kept getting those two teams mixed up. Guess I'm too dumb to tell apart things that start with the same letter. Which would explain why I keep washing my hands with soup and eating bowls of soap. (Actually, there's some antibacterial foam stuff they use here that's quite tasty. Lavendery. )

I was as high as 2nd place for a day or two and as low as 8th place for a week or two - I finished somewhere in between

I was the team who changed their name every day based on what place in the standings I was.

Hopefully, this year I won't ever have to change my team name because I'll probably be in 1st place all year...
