- There is an operating oil well on state capitol grounds called Capitol Site No. 1.

- The world's first installed parking meter was in Oklahoma City, on July 16, 1935. Carl C. Magee, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is generally credited with originating the parking meter. He filed for a patent for a "coin controlled parking meter" on May 13, 1935.

- Vinita is the oldest incorporated town on Oklahoma Route 66 being established in 1871. Vinita was the first town in Oklahoma to enjoy electricity. Originally named Downingville. Oklahoma definitely.

I do find it ironic that the first matchup is one of the most historic rivalries in college football. Even if Nebraska does suck now.

As for Oklahoma as a state, I like it for the most part. It doesn't compare to Texas, however.

brando+godfather+appocalypse now=better than all of them put together. i don't really have an opinion on either state but brando sways my vote.

Also, Troy Aikman should be added to that list from OK.


i hate troy aikman so that makes it even easier.

I went with Nebraska. I promised myself to vote for all states adjacent to Iowa. Plus the College World Series is in Omaha.
