I find that the older people up here call it soft drink, but everyone under 60 calls is soda

Old (pre-1990s) Boston-area slang for a soda:


Tonic.


As in, "Hey Johnny, go to the fridge and get me a tonic."

And of course, we pronounced it "TAWNN'-ick"


Older folks still use the phrase, occasionally, but for the most part, that word has become archaic. Soda has pretty much replaced tonic up here.

The best part of this post is where Pac referred to the pre-90s as "old."
