The New York Times had an article on win shares. It doesn't go into the math of it much--just says that it takes a mathematics degree to understand it--but it's short and interesting.
I like the part where they talk to Ron Gardenhire, and Gardenhire says that Luis Castillo should win the Twins 15 more games next season (15! That's the difference between a 75-win team and a 90-win playoff contender!), and then the writer comes in and says that, well, actually Luis is probably good for 2 or 3, tops.
I also thought it interesting that they refer to Ned Colletti--who has been considered the antithesis of a numbers guy--using the stastic (though only offhandedly).
Edit: changed "WARP" to win shares, cause that's what it's really about.

a) I have never registered, and it let me read it. *shrug*
b) You're right. I read the article an hour before I got around to posting it, and at some point, the words "win shares over bench" and "WARP" switched places in my mind.

That is classic. 15 games is Barry Bonds-ish.

Haha, I get the Times and the funny thing is in the article it mentions that Barry Bonds's highest career WARP is exactly 15.
