Bengie Molina: Screwed?

Molina is a competent defensive C and a very good offensive C. The ding on him is injuries. Look at the list of MLB Cs earlier in thread, he is better than a lot of guys who purportedly have starting jobs. Someone will sign him, and it will be multi-year not one year. He is not screwed. I bet Seattle wishes that they had stuck around for Molina instead of rolling the dice on some hihg-risk Japanese import.

I read that Houston is about to re-sign Ausmus. Now where is Bengie going?

I hear he is going to go to the Blue Jays, maybe after JP moves a few people. But I think this move make a lot of sense for the Jays and they can probably get him for a bargin price (6-7 mill/yr) and either keep Zaun or bring up Q to learn some things as a backup.

I wouldn't completely discount the Padres gettings in on Molina...Olivo was just non-tendered and we saved a lot of money in the Eaton deal.

Globe and Mail: "Ricciardi says the payroll will not exceed $75-million, and he would have to move somebody to make room for Molina, who was offered three years and $24-million by the New York Mets this off-season and turned it down."
