Renteria in ATL projections

Postby dmacblue » Thu Dec 08, 2005 4:11 pm

Does his value and projections change dramatically?

How about Marcus Giles, now that he will likely be leading off?

Thanks

Giles gets fewer RBI because no Furcal in front to hit in, but most everything else stays the same. Well, he might steal a few more bases now....

I'd expect .275/105/75/15/15 from Renteria this year.

less power (his career high is 16) i expect more like 10-12. But more steals 25 seems right (no one on the Red Sox steals bases).

You're right. 12/20 is probably more accurate than 15/15.

They traded one overrated player for an overrated prospect.

Figure on Renteria dropping across the board. Fenway is friendly to right-handed hitters with that short porch in left. Atlanta won't be so helpful for him. I give him 70 RBI, 80-90 runs, 6-10 HR.

But I don't see it working out for the Sox, either. Marte is worrying me with his DWL performance.

Oh wow, please show me how Marte is overrated in any way. I'd love to see this argument.

Anyways, I think he'll go:

.290/.340/.430 13 HR, 65 RBI, 22 SB, 105 R

I HOPE that he'll go all 2003 on us and hit:

.325/.390/.480

Renteria = overrated I agree. But with Boston picking up that much in salary, he's a pretty decent deal for the Braves. He should be solid at SS.

Marte is not even close to being overrated tho. I think he will be an AS type player very soon. Good batting eye, quick bat, power, etc.
