Dayton Daily News (registration required): "Meche is not a free agent, but there are reports that his Seattle team may not tender him a contract by today's deadline, making him a free agent, and a pitcher the Reds might pursue. He was 10-8 with a 5.09 ERA in 26 starts for the last-place Mariners."

Globe and Mail: "The agent for Nomar Garciaparra, Arn Tellem, met yesterday with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to general manager J.P. Ricciardi. 'Nomar's a player we have interest in,' said Ricciardi, who will now focus on adding offence to his lineup."
Coco Crisp- Braves, Padres among several teams who inquired, but were rebuffed
Adam Everett- ATL was interested, but were told he's not avaliable

Mike Sweeney- the Angels deny interest in him...rumors were that they shot down an offer of Sweeney for Casey Kotchman and Brandon Wood

ESPN reported that the Reds were looking for a pair of left handed starters for Adam Dunn. The Jays are looking for hitting and they have Chacin and Lily would the Reds even think of doing this?
I don't know why the Reds, who finally made an intellgent move, would do that. DO NOT TRADE DUNN!
According to the Boston Globe's Gordon Edes, the Dodgers, A's and Giants are all out of the chase for David Wells, leaving only the Padres negotiating with Boston.
With Trevor Hoffman back, the Padres can afford to give up one of their relievers for Wells. They might be able to get Boston to take Woody Williams if they put Scott Linebrink into the deal. The Red Sox aren't taking Williams to get Otsuka. ESPN's Peter Gammons speculated that the Red Sox wouldn't deal Wells until January, when most of the free agent starters were off the market.
