Dumbasses. They seriously need to stop signing old relievers. Look where Percy went. And Jones' one good season isn't going to be worth it in the end. Breakdown of the year candidate for sure.
Is Spooneybarger gonna be ready for camp? He's always had a live arm...but he just went under the knife like three times...literally.

Aug. 19 The Sun-Sentinel reports that Tim Spooneybarger underwent his second Tommy John surgery in as many years last week. He likely will remain sidelined through the 2006 season.
Maybe he recovers in time though, Grimsley and Dotel look to recover in shorter time.

Tough break. He was the centerpiece in teh three team Hampton trade, if I'm not mistaken...

Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
With Todd Jones here in Detroit, you might as well just give the Tigers the World Series championship right now!
Seriously, last year was right up there as one of his best seasons ever with his first few years in the league, so concerns of last year being a fluke are everywhere. I hear the Tigers have zero confidence in Percival being a major contributor next year (why should they?), so it can only be hoped that Jones picked up on something that made him effective once again or else it will be another long year for the Tigers' bullpen. I wouldn't be surprised if Rodney found himself back in the closer's role before long and Kevin Whelan (a 2005 June Draftee) debuted shortly after the All-Star break if things don't go well for the bullpen.
Not a bad move. In the game of closer musical chairs this off-season, the last man standing (Atlanta or Baltimore) gets Urbina and his pending attemtped murder indictment. So a person could see how Jones at 4-5M is relatively appealing.
