Well if that's what Gammons said, we can expect him to sign with the Astros tonight.

Astros declined to offer arbitration to RHP Roger Clemens.

This rules out the possibility of him rejoining the Astros before May 1. Clemens is said to be leaning toward retirement, but he still wants to pitch for the U.S. in the WBC. Perhaps this opens the door for Clemens to join the Yankees, Rangers or Red Sox on a one-year deal or maybe he'll re-sign with the Astros later on. a likely scenario will be that rclemens gets himself into shape for the WBC and re-signs for a prorated 5/6ths of a yr contract w/the astros after may 1...very doubtful that any other team would give clemens the flexibility of only being w/the team 2 out of 5 days like then astros did this yr..the traveling logistics would be nightmarish

The only other team that I see doing this, that would fit Clemens' parameters, would be Texas.

I think that we all know that Clemens wants to come back and finish his career with the Jays.


But wouldn't that be flipping the ultimate bird to the Yankees and Red Sox to come and join Burnett and Halladay and help the Jays beat out the Yankees and Red Sox in the closest thing that those evil empires will have to a "rebuilding year"?

He had great years here and with global warming we're not that cold anymore.
