It seems like both teams get what they want with this deal. The Cubbies needed a CF and leadoff hitter and the Marlins wanted young aka cheap players.

Im very excited for this deal. Speed at the top means a great deal to a contending team. I love the trade...

I love this deal. I think Juan will fit in very well in ChiTown.

This should also convince the last remaining Marlins supporters that the NL East now belongs to the Mets or Braves.

Thats a joke right? Where are these phantom Marlins supporters you speak of? No one in their right mind would think that a team with 2 players left who played in the big leagues last year would challenge for anything other than the worst single season record in history. This firesale is easily worse than the 97-98 firesale.

So when does Corey Patterson officially get non-tendered/cut/traded for a bag of baseballs?

They do need to get rid of him though, Wrigley field is not the friendly confines for very long if you are not producing. Patterson was getting booed even at away games! I guess i just feel bad for him. He had so much hype but he probably needed to play somewhere else to develop before coming to the- World Series deprived, playoffs or die Cubs.

haha. that's about as much as we can get unless we can find a team that can ignore the .215 average.

oh wait ... how big is the bag?

Huh? 8-o That deal won't be happening. Mench's value is significantly higher than Corey Patterson. A bag of used batting practice balls has more value than Patterson. There's easily a dozen teams talking to the Rangers about Mench. They will not be trading him for Corey Patterson. That's just plain funny. :-b
