Vanderbilt has good econ/finance and engineering undergrad and its also a good bet to get into their grad programs if you did undergrad there. i had several friends in both areas and most are doing plenty well right now.
and the girls at Wash U are subpar at best. that was my #2 school. very glad i didn't attend given that vandy was great and the girls were knockouts

Worried about getting back to Pittsburgh? There is an airport next to campus...one minute on foot.
This is the actual campus (center and right) with college town on the left.
I would recommend North Dakota State University, I went there for the Architectural College and ended up in Industrial Engineering. It's a really good school for both of those career paths but I hated Fargo. I got out of there as soon as I could and am back in Minnesota. It's too flat and too windy. Oh and nothing to do in the town. I guess what I'm saying is don't go there even though it's a good school (plus I think it's out of your way if you wanted to stay close to Pitt.

Is that UCal Santa Barbera?
How is its Business program?
Not to try to deter you from any Cal schools, but I know that when I was applying for college, their apps were due in November. You may have missed the filing deadline.
I was accepted to the University of Pittsburgh too and I turned it down for a smaller school. I hear it's crappy.
And Penn State, if you're not from Pennsylvania or a hard core Joe Paterno fan, don't bother.
Now, Penn is ivy league, so if you can get in, go.
And Carnegie Mellon is one of the finest private universities in the country, but also one of the most expensive.
Also, plain and simply, Pittsburgh's a lousy city. No offense to Pittsburghers, but the only thing they have going for them are those sandwhiches with fries inside them.

Wow that is a great location. West Coast is pretty much out of the question for me though. Its not that I wouldnt love to go there, it would just be too different from what Ive lived with all my life.

Ya University of Pittsburgh is basically a school I applied to just to have a safety school and to make my parents happy. They actually have a fairly decent Business program though.
Penn is probably my top choice, since the Wharton School is considered by most to be the #1 Business school in the country, but its also probably the hardest to get into as are some of the others I mentioned. Thats why Im looking for another school or two to apply to.
I've lived just outside of Pittsburgh my entire life and I really don't mind it. Carnegie Mellon is one of the top schools in Business and Engineering but some of the kids from my school who went there were some of the biggest nerds in the school, and they were pretty much the typical CMU students.
I've been looking around and Im also considering applying to Babson (thanks for the suggestions), Georgetown, Boston College. Any thoughts on those schools or any others I should consider?

Im looking for another school to apply to so I have more options later when I have to make my final decision about where to go, and Im also a little unsure about my chances at a lot of these schools. So far I am applying to or have applied to -
1. University of Michigan 2. University of Pittsburgh (accepted) 3. Penn State University 4. University of Pennsylvania 5. Cornell University 6. Carnegie Mellon University 7. Washington University in St Louis 8. Case Western Reserve University
Id prefer to stay in the northeast although east and midwest are ok too, ideally Id like a school within 3-6 or 7 hours of Pittsburgh though. Any other schools that I should be looking at? Thanks
Nice List. You should look at VA Tech, good engineering program, and a kick ass (when not loosing to FL teams) football team. it's about 6 hours away from Pittsburgh.
