Dodgers interested in Soriano...?

Postby BravesGuy » Tue Dec 06, 2005 8:04 pm

The Dodgers are making a run at Alfonso Soriano, according to ESPN's Peter Gammons.

Supposedly, the Dodgers want Soriano as a second baseman, even though they already have Jeff Kent and Cesar Izturis. It they're going to give up two top prospects to get him a year before he becomes a free agent, it could be a disaster. Dec. 6 - 3:08 pm et

This makes no sense.

New GM wanting to "make a splash".

Maybe the splash isn't what's best for the team.

As long as the Rangers get reasonable starting pitching in return, I'd be for that trade. :-) ;-D

Maybe the Dodgers and move Kent to 1st or trade him to the Yankees, who then can trade Cano to the Marlins.

I thought they were shipping around Kent anyways. Perhaps they trade Kent then execute this deal. From what I have read/heard, they certainly have the pitching prospects to entice the Rangers. Not a bad infield with Furcal and Soriano but where does that leave Izturis- 3B?

but where does that leave Izturis- 3B?

On the DL, bench, trading block... anywhere that will keep his .650 OPS off the field. vr, Xei

Because Kent will outperform Cano offensively for the next 2 or 3 seasons....
