Cabrera and Willis: on the block?

Postby savvy_stu » Tue Dec 06, 2005 4:41 pm

From Newsday:

While the cost-cutting Marlins still are refusing to lower their asking price of Robinson Cano for Juan Pierre, they have begun to tell teams that every player on their roster - including Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera - is available for the right price.

Are you kidding me? What could any team offer that would be so appealing to the rebuilding Marlins that they would ship off two young studs in Cabrera and Willis?

I mean, there are a lot of top ranked prospects that are older than Cabrera. He's a bonafide superstud. I just don't understand how any team could ship them affordable talent that even compares...

I think they say this to get a team to offer a blockbuster deal with a ton of top prospects. I mean top the very best out there. Its one of those things where they say it and hope a team blows them out of the water. Though I could see them dealing the D-Train for younger pitching meaning guys further from being arbitration eligible. Miggy though? Yeah that would be bananas.

Music to any Miggy owner's ears....I sure hope he gets traded. doubt it, but we can all dream. Maybe texas for Blalock, Adrian Gonzalez/lance Nix and their top pitching prospects???

Considering what the Marlins want for Pierre, I would hate to see the right price for MCab.

My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.

I seriously doubt the Marlins move Mcab who is 22 years old and only made $370,000 last year and compares favorably to a young Hank Aaron only 2 1/2 years through his big league career....

He won't go to the Mets, cause the Mets won't trade David Wright, which is surely what they'll ask for.

The Dodgers, Angels, Braves, DRays seem like the plausible destinations of teams stacked with prospects to trade. Drays less of a possibility cause they have no $$ to re-sign him.

Angels for Wood, Kotchman, McPherson

Dodgers for Billingsley, LaRoche, Guzman

Braves for McCann, Marte, James (my personal favorite ;-D )
