Burnett gone to Jays

Postby The_Met_Threat » Mon Dec 05, 2005 7:30 pm

Dont know if anyone has gotten this already.

ESPN's Peter Gammons says A.J. Burnett will likely go to the Blue Jays for five years and $55 million.
Reportedly, Burnett's agent wants to talk with the Cardinals one more time. However, the deal with Toronto could be agreed to within the next hour. It sounds as though the Cardinals just won't guarantee him the fifth year. -- Rotoworld

I'd like Burnett a lot better if he went to the Cards...oh well...

Wow, another interesting development in this Burnett situation. Only a few hours ago, I thought Burnett was almost 100% going to St. Louis, it looks like Ricciardi stepped up and gave a better offer. Nothing appears to be set in stone yet, and I believe Burnett is waiting for St.Louis to give a better offer.

Career .500 injury-prone pitcher..hmm..

Surprised he didn't go to the Cards though.

It's a lot, but no pitcher of his talent would have been cheap. I'm certainly happy we landed Burnett, lets just hope he stays healthy.
